GRADUATION
REQUIREMENTS
The required courses for a Harlem High School
diploma represent a base upon which to build a
high-quality, focused education. Students will
build upon the solid foundation that these
courses create as they proceed along their
chosen career pathways within their endorsement
areas. In addition to earning credit for the courses
listed on this page, students will select coursework
aligned to their interests and needs. A total of 24
credits, including coursework in addition to these
required courses, are needed in order to earn a
Harlem High School diploma.
Every graduate of Harlem High School will have
earned:
4 credits in writing-intensive English courses
3 credits in Math
2.5 credits in Science
2.5 credits in Social Studies
Within each of the above credits, students must
earn credit in United States History and in
Government & Civics along with passing the
United States Constitution exam.
Additionally, students must earn credit from
Career Development, Consumer Education, and
Health Education. They must also engage in
Physical Education every semester*, take the
school day SAT/ACT test, and complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
